The Centralia Fireside Guard, July 28, 1982

Raymond E. Barnes, age 78, of Sturgeon, died at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia, Saturday morning July 24, where he had been a patient for sometime.
Mr. Barnes was born July 27, 1903, to the late James T. and Emma Florence Parks Barnes.
He was married to Letha Jewell Roberts, Feb. 13, 1931, who survives. Mr. and Mrs. Barnes celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1981.
Mr. Barnes retired from Kaiser Refractories in Mexico in 1965 after 23 years service. He was a member of the Sturgeon United Methodist Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge AE & AM No. 174 in Sturgeon.
He is survived by one son, Tom Barnes, Columbia, and one daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Rosamond) Hunter, Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren, Jim Barnes, Pork(sic) Huron, Michigan, Mike Barnes, Denver, Colo., Dale Hunter, Phoenix, Arizonia; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lillian Scott, Dixon, Iowa.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by one sister, Zella Lee Barnes, and one brother, E. L. Barnes.
Funeral services were Monday, July 26, 2 p.m. at the Meador & Son Chapel in Sturgeon with Rev. Robert Guese of the United Methodist Church officiating, and Masonic Graveside services in the Mt. Horeb Cemetery.
