Col. Harold Leo Maurer (USAF Ret.), of Lexington, Virginia, died on August 4, 2009, at the age 90 of heart failure. Colonel Maurer was born in St. Cloud Minnesota on March 25, 1919. His military career included tours in Viet Nam and four years in Germany. He retired from the military in 1973 and from business life in 1985. His many interests included playing the guitar and banjo, sailing and reading history. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; a brother, Keith, of St. Cloud, Minn.; three sons, Alan, of Buena Vista, Va., Harold, of Alexandria, Va., and Leo, of Spicewood, Texas; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be at the Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. on September 9, 2009.
