Services for Elsie Kerr, 93, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. today at Resthaven Abbey Chapel with Floyd Stumbo and Joe Barnett officiating.

Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.

She died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2001.

She was born Feb. 3, 1908, in Jack County. As a child, she lived in Gail, Lorenzo and Idalou, where she graduated high school. She played basketball for three years at Idalou.

She graduated from Texas Tech in 1933 with a degree in education. She taught school at Becton and Acuff. She served as president of the local Women's Athletic Association of Tech in 1927.

She was a member of the Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock since 1930, teaching and supervising the preschool department of the Sunday School for many years. She was active in many women's clubs such as Women Forum, Woman's Club, Lubbock Christian College Associates, Lubbock Garden Club, Abilene Christian College Associates, serving as president of several of these clubs.

She married James C. "Jimmie" Kerr on Dec. 20, 1930 in Lubbock.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenneth of Lubbock; two daughters, Lora Ann Neill of Denton and Jane Nichols of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
