Obituary

James W. Darby, 74 years old, for many years in the milling business at Buck Lodge and Poolesville, this county, and one of the county's leading citizens, died suddenly of heart disease at his home in Poolesville, early Saturday evening, aged 74 years. He had been in his usual good health.

Mr. Darby was a son of the late John William Darby of this county. He was twice married. His first wife was a Miss Mary Dade of this county, and some years following her death he married her sister. There were three children by his first marriage and one — Dr. Dade Darby— by the second.

He is survived by his widow, formerly Miss Gertrude Dade, of Buck Lodge, and four children: Reginald J. Darby of Buck Lodge, Mrs. Thomas Fyffe of Poolesville, Mrs. William Mattingly of Remington, Va., and Dr. Dade Darby of Oakland, Md. He was a brother of Richard E. Darby and Mrs. Mary G. Brown of Barnesville, Md., and Mrs. Basil R. Iglehart of Gaithersburg.

The funeral took place at 1 o'clock this afternoon from the home, the services being conducted by Rev. Walter P. Griggs, formerly rector of St. John's Episcopal Church, Poolesville, assisted by the present rector, Rev. Berkeley Griffith. Burial was in Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, Md.

Funeral at 1 o'clock Tuesday afternoon from the home.
