Our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Rachel Elizabeth Jackson York, returned to her Heavenly Father on May 28, 1993.

She was born in Nephi, Utah on April 22, 1906 to Bert and Emily Jane Coulson Jackson, the second of 10 children. She married Marvin Clinton York of Santaquin, Utah. They lived in Santaquin making their living farming and mining.

In 1948, they moved to Magna where they spent the remainder of their lives. Marvin died December 18, 1959. Rachel worked at the Jackling Pool in Magna where she became a friend to all of the young people of Magna. Rachel spent many years taking care of young children and elderly friends. She was a member of the LDS Church, where she was a Primary teacher, Relief Society teacher, and librarian. Rachel spent many hours binding the edges of the quilts made by the Relief Society.

She enjoyed making beautiful crocheted items and raising lovely flowers and vegetables. She spent many hours with her beloved grandchildren. "Grandma" crocheted a beautiful afghan for each of her grandchildren.

Survived by all seven of her children, Roy and Barbara York; Jack and Georgia York; Ve Neta and Sherm Giles, all of Magna; Naoma Smith, Shirlene and Bob Colledge, Bonnie and Cloyd George, all of Tooele; MarRae and John Davis of Centerville. She was the proud grandmother of 27 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; also survived by three sisters, Ada Elder and Florence (George) Kramer of Tooele; and Nelda (Bruce) Holman of Salt Lake City; sisters-in-law, Adele Jackson of Nephi; and Eldora Childs of Santaquin; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by husband; parents; son-in-law, Robert; brothers, Harry, Jim, and Gene; sisters, Pearl, Alice, and Ruth; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 1993, at the Pleasant Green Ward, 8739 West 3000 South. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. 'Wednesday, at the Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna, and Thursday, 10-10:45 a.m. at the church. A short remembrance and interment will be in the Santaquin City Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 3, 1993.
