E. Harvey Monson, age 58, of 1927- Williams Drive, died on Sunday evening, February 24,1980, at a Madison hospital. He married Florence Hoel in 1940 and operated M & S Excavating Company and later together with his wife operated the Stoughton Gambles Store.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Army. He was a member of First Lutheran Church; Kegonsa Masonic Lodge of which he was a past master; the Madison Consistory; the Zor Shrine; the Eastern Star Venus Chapter of which he was a past patron; an honorary member of Waucoma Masonic Lodge, Cooksvllle; and Mr. Monson was also a member of the Mandt Lodge Sons of Norway.

Surviving are his wife, Florence; two daughters, Mrs. Connie(Barbara) Stace of Oregon, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Barnett Jr. of Stoughton; two sons, E. Harvey Monson Jr. of Stoughton, Jerry Monson of Stoughton; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 27 at 1:30 p.m.'at FIRST LUTHERAN CHURCH. The Reverend Harold J. Peterson will officiate. Burial will be In the Western Koshkonong cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. on Tuesday where masonic services will be held at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
