Carrie Coleman Rivers Pirrong was the daughter of William Stratton Jones Rivers (1847-1883), and his wife, Sarah "Sallie" Dandridge Nickels Rivers (1848-1897); and granddaughter of Rev. Richard Henderson and Martha Bolling Cox Jones Rivers of Louisville KY (Jefferson County), and John and Edna E. Bibb Watkins Nickels of Montgomery AL (Montgomery County).

She was named after her great aunt Caroline "Carrie" Bibb Coleman of Montgomery AL, with whom her mother lived before she married.

Carrie Coleman Rivers married first Thomas Berry Whiteside, son of Thomas James Whiteside, on 4 OCT 1893, in Louisville KY (Jefferson County). Thomas died 27 MAR 1902, in Columbus GA (Muscogee County). Carrie married second Clarence Merritt Pirrong, on 18 OCT 1904, in Montgomery County AL.

Obituary, "The Oklahoman", January 6, 1959:
Mrs. Carrie R. Pirrong, 84, mother of Clarence Pirrong, mathematics professor at Oklahoma City University, died Monday in a local nursing home after an extended illness.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Garrison funeral chapel with burial in the Harrah cemetery.

Mrs. Pirrong, who lived with her son was born in Pulaski Tennessee and came to Oklahoma City in 1908 with her husband. They moved to a farm near Harrah later and lived there until his death. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Also surviving are two grandsons and one great-grandchild.
