Simmons Rites Will Be Monday

Last rites will be Monday, Sept. 16, for Fred R. Simmons, Fairfield resident who died Friday. He passed away at the Jefferson County Hospital about 12:20 p.m. after entering as a patient at 5:50 a.m. the same day.

The services Monday will be held at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. David R. Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery.

Fred R. Simmons (sic. middle name was Rufus) was born May 1, 1894 in Jefferson County. He was reared and educated in Jefferson County.

On De. 6, 1922, he was married to Edna Elmore in Bloomfield. He was a retired farmer, moving to Fairfield from the Antioch Community about five years ago. He was a member of the Antioch Church, American Legion and was a veteran of World War I.

Simmons served as a director of the Jefferson County Mutual Insurance firm for 25 years, and was president of the organization for 10 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Christie Beauchamp, Libertyville; two sons, J. Richard and Stanley, both of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He is also survived by two brothers, Clifford W. , Oraville, Calif., Earl M., Robbins, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Taylor Watts, Coolidge, Arizona, and Mrs. Sylman Johnson, Santa Cruz, Calif.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.
