Wilburn Burton Swaffar, 100, of Tulsa, OK died August 2, 2009. He was born to Arthur and Myrtle (Brown) Swaffar near McDowell, MO. Wilburn grew up near Star City, MO on the banks of Flat Creek, midway between Cassville and McDowell, MO. He was raised on a farm and experienced life without automobiles, electricity, phones or running water. The Saturday before Easter 1930, he married Lois Louise (Link) and moved to Tulsa October 31, 1934 on 30 acres north of Dawson. They leased a Shell service station and later sold it and he hired on with and retired from over 36 years later what would end up being Tulsa City Transit. His hobbies were his yard work, bowling and watching baseball. As they moved around Tulsa they attended and were members of several churches, the last being Calvary Baptist. During his 72 years of marriage to Louise they had one child, Patrick. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2009, in Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel.
