Eastport – Frances A. (McIntyre) Finch, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2009 in Eastport. Frances was born in Eastport on March 4, 1924, daughter of the late George and Vida (Calder) McIntyre. She attended local schools and graduated from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1942. In her younger years she worked in local drug stores, the Wilbur Theater, and spent her last 42 working years at the local A&P. Following her retirement, Frances spent her time serving her fellow Eastporters for the Senior Companion program until her 80th birthday. She was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church and lived a full life for her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband, George Finch Sr.; and three sisters, Mary O'Sullivan, Ethel Hicks and Ruth Cheverie. Surviving are her two children, Mary Finch Pottle and George "Bud" Finch, both of Eastport; her brother Stanley McIntyre and his family of Kittery; five grandsons, David Pottle and his wife Anne of Perry, Michael Pottle and his wife Donna of Perry, George "BJ" Finch of Bangor, Jonathan Finch and his wife Catherine of Wells, and Robbie Finch of Ogunquit; great-grandchildren, Leslie Bassett, and Jannelle and Patrick Pottle, all of Perry. She also shared in her heart her loving nephews and nieces, Wayne, Jane and Anne Cheverie, Kathleen and Michael O'Sullivan, Jack, Bill and Robert Hicks, John, Brenda, George, Vincent and Richard McIntyre, Marcia, Carl, Beverly, David and Kenney Diesel, Leanne and Rhonda Carter, Brenda and Brian Finch, and Joanne Finch. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Homes, Calais & Eastport.
