On November 12, 1960, he married Lela Mae Davis in Elko, Nevada. They have since resided in Idaho Falls. He raced stock cars and often raced in competition at the Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot. He also loved Demolition Derbies and raced snowmobiles, and participated for many charitable causes. He enjoyed playing a good joke on his friends and many family members.
