Gary DeMar Ard, 68, of Idaho Falls, died January 21, 2004, at Good Samaritan Nursing Center. He was born March 14, 1935, in Clemittvale, Idaho, to Kenneth Loraine Ard and Ada Marie Umphery Ard. He grew up and attended schools in Madison County. Just before graduation, he quit school and enlisted in the U. S. Army and worked in the Motor Pool. After returning home, he used the mechanic training to open Gary's truck and Auto Repair in Idaho Falls. He repaired cars and farm equipment. He operated this business for 34 years until he was incapacitated by a stroke.

On November 12, 1960, he married Lela Mae Davis in Elko, Nevada. They have since resided in Idaho Falls. He raced stock cars and often raced in competition at the Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot. He also loved Demolition Derbies and raced snowmobiles, and participated for many charitable causes. He enjoyed playing a good joke on his friends and many family members.
