Luevenia D. Bain Richards, 86, of Hendersonville died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.
Born in 1920 in Ocoee, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Sam Bain and Esther Mae Snyder Bain. She was also preceded in death by a son, Waylon D. Richards; a sister, Mary Ellen Russell; and brothers, J.E. Bain, J.D. Bain and Lester Bain.
Through the years, she lived in Morganton, Ga., Atlanta and Hendersonville. She worked at many occupations throughout the years. She came to Hendersonville in 1968 and worked at Belk's Department Store as the alteration lady for 21 years, retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville. For many years she sang in the choir, worked in the Sunday school with the second-graders, and was a member of the WMU. She had a gift for sewing and made many baptismal robes and costumes for the Messiah Christmas presentations.
