Dallas P. Asberry, age 78, of New Castle died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at his home following an extended illness. He passed away at home with his loved ones all around. He was born February 1, 1931 in Monticello, Kentucky, a son of the late Joe and Della (Watkinson) Asberry.

He moved to New Castle in 1948 and resided here throughout his life. He retired from the City of New Castle Street Department in 1988 and was formerly employed at Perfect Circle in New Castle for 17 years. He enjoyed playing cards with his family and friends, hunting, fishing and listening to his country music idol "George Jones". He was an awesome Dad, Papaw and great grandpa. He was dearly loved and precious to each and everyone.

He is survived by his former wife and companion: Linda Asberry; two sons, Randy A. Asberry (fiance, Tricia Stanley) of New Castle and Joe Bell II, Jr. of New Castle; three daughters: Deborah J. Daffron of New Castle, Tina Martin (fiance, John Garcia) of New Castle, Debbie G. (husband, Bobby) Claborn of Albany, KY; a step son, Scott Conner of Indianapolis; a step daughter, Karla Williams of New Castle; nine grandchildren, Kristi Bell, Joe I. Bell III, Dallas Reynolds, Danielle Herndon, Joey Martin, Leslie Gulley, Ashley Martin, Bobby Claborn II, Stacey Stearns; 18 great grandchildren:Allee Ferguson, Makenzie and Dallas Reynolds II, Jayke Herndon II, Joshua West, Kasi and Jonathon E. Martin, Kaylyn and Landon Martin, Lane Bell, Mason Adams, Ethan Thompson, Kaylee and Dawson Stearns, Trevor, Kaleb and Sam Williams and Ysabelle Conner; two sisters, Colene Catron of Spiceland and Alta Foster of Albany, KY; one brother, Marvin (wife, Ethyl) Asberry of New Castle; several nieces, nephews and cousins; his life-long friends, Marie (Asberry) Troxell of New Castle, Tom Bell, Delbert Savage, Dump Godby, Bob Snedigar and many more.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dewayne Tiger; two grandsons, John E. Martin Jr. and Andrew Redmon Bell; two sons-in-law, Roger Daffron and Duke Reynolds; a sister, Lucille Kelsay; a brother, Harlan C. Asberry; three nephews, David Asberry, Henry Foster, and Mike Kelsay; one great nephew: Tony Asberry.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 31, 2009 at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service in New Castle with lifelong friend Tom Bell officiating.
