Effie Elizabeth Rodeffer Diehl, 97, of 856 Highland Ave., Staunton, died Tuesday morning (Dec 3, 1991) at Liberty House Nursing Home, Waynesboro.

She was born Nov 1, 1894, in Rockingham County, a daughter of Samuel and Mary Wilkerson Rodeffer.

She was a member of Waynesboro Curch of the Brethren, the Louise Syre Circle and the Bible Class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Amos B. Diehl, on Dec 11, 1951; and one son, Samuel H. Diehl, who was killed in service on April 13, 1945.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Geneva) Dennison, Jr. of Grottoes, and Mrs. Carl (Annabell) Collins and Mrs. William (Audrey) Ball, both of Waynesboro; two sons, William Diehl and Garland Diehl, both of Waynesboro; two sisters, Lena Bailey of Staunton and Ollie Mae Breeden of Harrisonburg; a brother, Andrew Rodeffer of Weyers Cave; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.

A service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday i the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home by the Revs. Byron Flory and Dennis Brown, with burial at Pleasant Valley Church of the Brethren, Weyers Cave.

Active pallbearers will be David Ball, Wayne Ball, Ronnie Ball, Steve Diehl, Richard Hawkins, Harvey Dennison and Bill Small.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Collins, Teresa Collins, Sharon Collins, Cindy Meeks, and the Bible class of Waynesboro Church of the Brethren.

The family will receive friend from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home and tomorrow at the residence.
