Mr. Brutus George Prock, 88, of Dewey, died at 3:47 P.M. Wednesday at the Jane Phillips Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Prock will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Dewey Church of Christ with Mr. Tony Lalli and Mr. Robert Hamm officiating. Interment will be in the Dewey Cemetery where full military rites will be accorded by the James H. Teel American Legion Post # 105. Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.
Casket escorts will include Robert Prock, Sloane Prock, Barry Cooper, Hunter Prock, Craig Williams and Don Keheley. Honorary casket escort will be Jack Stephenson.
A memorial has been established and those who wish may send their contributions to the Hope Harbor Children's Home, P.O. Box 1047, Claremore, Oklahoma, 74018.
Mr. Prock was born at Cedar, Oklahoma on November 3, 1920 the son of Robert D. and Ethel Jane (George) Prock. He grew up and received his education in Latimer County, Oklahoma and graduated from Red Oak High School. He worked in Civilian Conservation Corps Camps and also was active in farming with his father. He entered the U.S. Army on October 1, 1942 and served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II as a combat infantryman and earned a Bronze Star. He was involved in the Philippine Liberation and his Company C, the 145th Infantry Regiment received the Presidential Unit Citation. Following his Honorable Discharge on December 13, 1945 he returned to Oklahoma and was again involved in farming for a short time. He began employment with the Oklahoma State Highway Department which brought him to the Bartlesville/Dewey area in 1961.
He was then employed with the Bartlesville School System as the maintenance engineer at Ranch Heights School for 25 years until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Prock was married to Carol Joye (Layne) Wood on July 2, 1971 in Bartlesville. They made their home in Dewey and she preceded him in death on September 18, 1984. He was then married to Floreine (Hays) King on February 27, 1988. They made their home for several months in Dewey until establishing their home north of Dewey in August of 1988. He was a member of the Dewey Church of Christ and was proud of his church family and his military service. He enjoyed going to the Kiddie Park with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Floreine Prock of the home, one son, Roger D. Prock M.D. and his wife, Kim of Claremore, three step daughters, Francie Adamson of Bartlesville, Carolyn Williams and her husband Larry of Dewey and Sue Ellen Layton and her husband Jesse of Farmington, New Mexico, two sisters, Irene Bahr and Imogene Sardis both of Midwest City, Oklahoma, one brother, Jim S. Prock of Cedar, Oklahoma, six grandchildren, Kachelle Carpenter and her husband Jerry, Sloane Prock, Cari Nicholas and her husband Nick, Craig Williams and his wife Melinda, Andrea Smith and her husband Kevin and Barry Cooper and his wife Shannon and eight great grandchildren. Mr. Prock was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, one sister and a step son, Don King.
