He was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and a son of the late Reverend Lucius Rogers and Lucy Green Rogers. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Jennings, Harry, L. J., and Lindsey Rogers.
Don was a self-employed Barber for 47 years and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he was an active deacon, choir member, former Sunday school superintendent and teacher. He was also Past Master of Sonoma Lodge #472 AF & AM who will provide Masonic graveside rites. He was a Past Worthy Patron of Sonoma Chapter #254 of the Eastern Star and a member of the York Rite. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean conflict and was a member of VFW Post #5198 and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Ruby Lee Deaver Rogers, two sons, Scotty Rogers and his wife Gail and Mark Rogers and his wife Trudy, all of Canton, one sister, Gladys Snipes of Ridgecrest, one brother, Vaughn Rogers of Canton, 6 grandchildren, Gina, Luke, Logan, Jake and Caitlin Rogers and Crystal Clark, one great-grandson, Nathan Clark.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Heath Davis and Reverend Perry Brindley officiating. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with military graveside rites conducted by Army personnel from Ft. Bragg, VFW Post #5202 and the American Legion Post #47 in addition to the Sonoma Lodge. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Deacons and the Adult Mens #3 Sunday school class.
