Henry Kuehl

Henry Kuehl, 73, of 2216 Jefferson St., New Holstein, retired Hart-Carter Co. supervisor, died of a heart attack Sunday morning at Libertyville, Ill. Mr. Kuehl, who had been in poor health recently, was spending the Thanksgiving weekend in the Illinois city at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Duane Menter (Eunice). Accompanied by his wife, he had been driven there Wednesday by another daughter, Miss Elaine Kuehl, a member of the Sheboygan North High School faculty.

Born on a Town of New Holstein farm about two miles east of the city, Dec. 24, 1881, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kuehl. He attended district school and married the former Lena Schneider, April 25, 1912, at Fond du Lac. He had worked for the Hart-Carter firm for a number of years and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Prior to New Holstein's incorporation as a city he had served as a trustee of the village board. In addition, he was a charter member of the New Holstein Volunteer Fire Department, a former member of the New Holstein Turnverein and was a member of the local Redmen and Modern Woodmen of America.

Surviving in addition to his wife and two daughter, mentioned above, are a grandchild and two brothers, Arthur and Reuben Kuehl, both of New Holstein. Three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Services will be held at the Erbe-Hoffman Funeral Home, New Holstein, with the Rev. Edmund Webster, pastor of St. Boniface Episcopal Church, Chilton, officiating. Burial will be in New Holstein city cemetery.
