Fred P. Lomax - A native of Huxford, AL and a resident of Satsuma for over 50 years, died Saturday, November 29, 2008 in a local hospital. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. Mr. Lomax was an active member of First Baptist Church of Satsuma where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He retired from International Paper Company after many years of service. During his retirement, he stayed very active with woodworking, fishing, gardening and other tasks. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Tillman Lomax and Margaret Aline Sellers Lomax; three brothers, Jack Lomax, Tommy Lomax, and Billy Lomax, and two sisters, Kate Stokes and Mary Dunn. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sybil Lomax; three children, Richard (Mary K) Lomax of Dover, TN, Cindy (Tim) Sherrer of Satsuma, and Rusty (Kelly) Lomax of Mobile; one brother, J.P. (Lillian) Lomax of Satsuma; seven grandchildren, Chris Sherrer, Megan Sherrer, Taylor Sherrer, Avery Lomax, Preston Lomax, Sophie Lomax, and Hunter Lomax; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held from First Baptist Church of Satsuma on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 12:00 Noon. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Satsuma, P. O. Box 557, Satsuma, AL 36572, or the charity of your choice.
