Mr. Burley Lee Gray, 80, of Orangeburg died Sunday Nov. 28, 2004, at Laurel Baye Health Care of Orangeburg.
The funeral was held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Charles Wilson and John Powell officiating.
Burial was held in Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery near Cope.
Active pallbearers were George Richardson, Ricky Roddy, Richard Smith, John Byrd, James Thorpe, Tony Gray and Frank Long.
He was born Aug. 12, 1924, in Aiken County, the son of the late Cary Lee Gray and Audry Whetstone Gray. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church, Cayce.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Lee Gray, of Orangeburg, Mike Harley, of Swansea and Joseph Cubbage, of Ohio; four daughters, Birdie Williams, of Columbia, Carolyn Gray and Betty Gray, both of Orangeburg and Dorothy Ginn, of Cordova; one brother, Bobby Ray Gray, of Orangeburg; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Holland Avenue Baptist Church, 801 12th St., Cayce SC or to First Church of the Nazarene, 450 Woodbine Drive, Orangeburg SC 29115.
