SHUMATE, ANNA LOU RUSH
age 90 of Maynardville, passed away May 24, 2007 at Jefferson County Nursing Home. She was born July 17, 1916 in Grainger County. She was the oldest member of Hickory Valley Baptist Church in Maynardville. She was the last of 10 children born to Jesse Albert and Martha Seymore Rush. She is preceded in death by: husband, Mack Shumate; son, Lowell Shumate; grandson, James R. Curry and sons-in-law, Robert Curry and Curtis Smyre. Survived by: daughters, Fern Smyre, Knoxville, Shirley Curry, Sumter, SC; son, Johnny Doyle Shumate, Birmingham, AL; grandchildren, Robert and Sonja Curry, Tracy and Bob Marye, Lisa and Lee Webb and Yvonne Curry of Sumter, SC, Tony Shumate and fiancé Machell of Maynardville, Johnny Daniel and Crystal Shumate, Knoxville and Derek and Samantha Shumate of Blaine; 7 great grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the staff at Jefferson County Nursing Home and Dr. Emmett Manley for their outstanding care and love to our mother. Family and friends will meet 1:45pm Sunday, Monroe Cemetery, Maynardville for graveside services at 2:00pm, Rev. Bud Tipton officiating.
