JOSEPH J. ACHATZ

Joseph J. Achatz, 77, a resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home, Carroll, died there Friday, March 19.

Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Church by the Very Rev. Leo Lenz, V.F. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Twill Funeral Home in Carroll, where there will be rosary recitations at 3 and 8 p.m. Sunday.

Mr. Achatz, son of Joseph and Mary Kraus Achatz, was born at Carroll Jan. 27, 1894. He had been employed by the Chicago and North Western Railway in maintenance and way, and also was a painter. He was married at S.S. Peter and Paul Church to Elizabeth Schwaller, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church.

Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Rose Hansman of Carroll; a brother-in-law, Henry Schwaller of Odebolt, and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, Mr. Achatz was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. John Achatz; and a sister, Mrs. Ben (Mary) Roth.

Requiem mass for Joseph J. Achatz, 87, of Carroll was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Holy Spirit Church by the Very Rev. Leo Lenz, V.F.

Pallbearers were Robert J. Hansman, Larry Hansman, Louis Hansman, Ed Hansman, George Grossman and Harold Sibenaller. Interment was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The Twit Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Attending the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schwaller of Odebolt and Mrs. Catherine Brandt and family of Manning.

Mr. Achatz, who had been a railroad employee and a painter, died March 19 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
