Mr. Bowles was born on July 12, 1921 in Lockwood, Missouri to Roy and Lucy May Bowles and departed this life on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Juniper Village in Lamar at the age of 88.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother both of Lamar; by his former wife–Leta Bowles of Lamar on January 23, 2004; by two sons–Bill Bowles of Lyons, Kan.; and Bobby Bowles of Lamar; by two sisters–Frances Brooks of Buena Vista, Colo., and Dorothy Nunnery of Lamar; by one brother–Daryl Bowles of Wiley, Colo.; and by one great granddaughter–Leta Marie Ponce of San Diego, Calif.
Mr. Bowles is survived by three children–Danny Bowles of Lamar; Roy (Kay) Bowles of Lamar; and Sheryl (Kevin) Cochran of Washington; by six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; by three sisters–Doris Copeland of Lamar; Bonnie (A.C.) Rowan of Lamar; and Lorene (Richard) Thompson also of Lamar; by one brother–Loren (Joyce) Bowles of Cortez, Colo.; by one sister-in-law–Doris Bowles of Lamar; and by one daughter-in-law–Susan Bowles of Lyons, Kan.; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
