Harry was noted to be a streetcar motorman on the 1910 census. By the time of his wife's death in April 1916, he was a policeman. According to her obituary, Harry developed paralysis the week prior to her death. His World War I draft registration of 9/12/1918 stated that he was disqualified because his voice and left side were paralized. Harry lived with family until sometime before 1930 then being admitted to Bryce Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where he died.

Mr Harry Daniel New - Native of Mobile County, Ala., and a resident of Cottage Hill, Ala., died in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Friday evening, Nov. 14, 1947, at 8:00 o'clock. He is survived by: Five sisters, Mrs. Mary Krebs, Pascagoula, Miss., Mrs. Emma Wooley, Mobile, Mrs. J.R. Bellman, Mobile, Mrs. Maggie Lloyd, Cottage Hill, Ala., Mrs. J.M. Snow of Mobile; two brothers, Earl and Jesse New of Mobile and other relatives. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Higgins Mortuary Monday morning, Nov. 17, 1947, at 11:00 o'clock, with Dr. H.H. Hobbs, officiating. Interment will be in Zion Cemetery. Arrangements by Higgins Mortuary, Mobile.

Mr Harry Daniel New - Funeral services for Mr. Harry Daniel New were held from the chapel of Higgins Mortuary Monday morning, Nov. 17, 1947, at 11 o'clock, with Dr. H.H. Hobbs, pastor of the Dauphin Way Baptist Church, officiating. Pallbearers were: G.L. Lloyd, O.H. Harbin, J.E. New, F.H. Wooley, Orville Snow, and Clyde Snow. Interment was in Zion Cemetery. Arrangements by Higgins Mortuary, Mobile.
