Mary Chandler (Fortson) Baker, born July 22, 1857, Bowman, Elbert County, GA, became the second wife of Thomas Franklin Baker on October 10, 1875 in Madison County, GA. She died in Athens, Clarke County, GA on May 4, 1934.

She was the daughter of Richard Easton Fortson and Lucy Jane Campbell of Bowman, Elbert County, GA.

Mary was survived by her husband and two sons, James Franklin Baker and George Edward Baker. She was also survived by step-son, John Thomas Baker, and step-daughter, Lettie Anna Baker.
