Lettie was the eighth child born to William Downing and Susannah Newman. She married Jesse Moore on January 4, 1827 in Adams County, Ohio. They were married by Seth Van Meter, Justice of the Peace and her older sister, Elizabeth's husband. Lettie and Jesse had nine children.
