Mrs. Leota Allen Padgett, 82, formerly of Olin, died Sunday, December 12, 2004 at Davis Regional Medical Center. She was born May 29, 1922 in Iredell County, daughter of the late Furchess Bryson and Mittie Renegar Allen. On November 2, 1940, she married William Thomas Padgett, who preceded her in death on January 8, 1999. She was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, loved to cook and loved working on the farm that she owned with her husband. In addition to her husband and parents, also preceding her in death was a son, James Larry Padgett, who died June 30, 2001; and brothers, Fred Bryson Allen and Billy Allen. Surviving is a daughter, Carolyn Horne and her husband, Jeffery, of Statesville; three grandchildren, Wendy Horne, Misty Kerr and Cindy Padgett; and two sisters, Maye Wallace and Estelle Renegar, both of Harmony. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 15 in the Westmoreland Chapel with burial in Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery. Burch-Johnson Funeral Home had the arrangements.
