Ed 'Turtle' Medford

Ed "Turtle" Medford, 77, of Glendale died Sunday, July 1, 2007, at Highland House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Glendale Memorial Cemetery, with Mark Kirkland, pastor, officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

He was born Dec. 9, 1929, in Waxahachie, Texas, to Cecil and Juanita Medford. During the Korean War he served in the Air Force. For 27 years, he worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as an air traffic controller.

He enjoyed gardening, square dancing, fishing, hunting and reading his Bible.

Survivors include three sons, DeWayne Medford of Los Banos, Calif., Darrell Medford of Paradise, Calif., and Ronald Medford of Gold Hill; three daughters, Debra Dalebout of Glendale, Lucy Kirkland of Enumclaw, Wash., and Mary Hamilton of Grants Pass; a brother, Ora G. Medford of Hohenwald, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Two children, Jeffrey Medford and Juanita Suklis, died before him.
