OBITUARY - Willie T. Markland July 11, 1914-April 6, 1994
Willie T. "Bill" Markland, 79, Jonesboro, died at 1:47 p.m. Wednesday in Marion General Hospital. Mr. Markland was born in Blackwood, VA. He worked for U. S. Steel Co., Lynch KY until 1962. He worked for Glass Container Corp., Gas City, as a guard until his retirement in 1972. He attended Westview Wesleyan Church, Jonesboro. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America. Survivors include a daughter, Victoria L. Davis, Jacksonville, NC; two sisters, Kathleen Harris, Appalachia, VA, and Mrs Eugene (Wilma Jean) Turner, Jonesboro; a brother, James, Gas City; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. today (April 9, 1994) in Needham-Storey Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, Gas City, with the Rev. Charles McCallum officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
