From "Schools and Berrys in Southwest Simpson County" by Rev. Glenn D. Shows:
Prior and Betsy were both very large and it was said that together they weighed 500 pounds. Prior affiliated in 1853 with the Westville Lodge No. 78 of the Masons, located where Pinola is today. After the Civil War, Prior moved his family by wagon to Texas where relatives had already moved. They moved around for a year, but Prior was very particular and didn't find any place that he liked better than the place they had left in Mississippi. They returned, but two of his daughters remained in Texas and married there.
