Deborah Hobbs was the daughter of William and Priscilla (Coffin) Hobbs. She married first John Nixon and second William Unthank.


The Indianapolis (IN) News, Friday Feb. 10, 1899

Spiceland, Ind.—February I0. Mrs. Deborah Unthank, who died last evening, was born in North Carolina, in I810, and her parents settled In what now Washington county. Indiana, in 1812. She marrled John Nixon, of Salem, in 1840. He died in a few years. Her second husband was William B. Unthank, whom she married In 1854, since which time her home was here. She was a sister of the late Prof. Barnabas C. Hobbs, and the last survivor of a large family of children. Oliver H. Nixon, of this place, and Nathan T. Nixon, of Knightstown, are the sons.

Deborah was the first wife of John Nixon, the mother of Priscilla Nixon # 40007725 and Oliver Hobbs Nixon # 52516891. O.H. Nixon was a druggest, bookseller and postmaster of Spiceland plus had the telephone office in the early 1880's. John and Deborah had 4 children; O. H., N. (Nathan) T., Mrs. Martha "Mattie" Cook and Priscilla.


Deborah was born on Guilford, NC. She married William B. Unthank just a short time after John Nixon passed away. Her father was William Hobbs and we believe her mother was Frances McWilliams who passed away in KY @ 1817. William was married 4X.
