ST. FRANCISVILLE -- Joseph "Joe Dale" Breen, 74, died at 11:20 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital.

He was born Dec. 7, 1927, in St. Francisville, the son of Robert Joseph Breen and Ruth Ridgley Breen. He married Ola Gray Breen, and she survives.

Mr. Breen was a retired driller in the oilfield.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a member of Pisgah United Presbyterian Church.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include four daughters, Deborah Harrington and her husband Dick of St. Francisville, Cheryl Gaultney of St. Francisville, Cindy Lou Sutton and her husband Stephen of St. Francisville and Penny Jo Breen of Lawrenceville, Ga.; four sons, Ronald Joe Breen and his wife Karen of Herrin, Mike Breen and his wife Donna of Lakeland, Fla., Steven Breen and his wife Dee of Allendale and Kim Breen and his wife Teresa of St. Francisville; three sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Norma) Lewis of St. Francisville, Evelyn Newlin of Kokomo, Ind. and Betty Judy of Homer, Mich.; 19 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, one granddaughter and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Thursday, Oct. 3, at Cunningham-Nichols Funeral Home in St. Francisville. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
