Becky was a fun-loving, sweet girl who saw the good in everybody. She had a head full of flowing blonde curls. She very much resembled her grandfather, Max Porche. She had completed 5th grade at Aycock Elementary School in West Asheville. She was 12 1/2 years old with a lot left to give. She was taken far ahead of her time by meningitis, which she caught during Summer vacation. One day she was with us, the next she was gone.
We will always love her and think of her, at family get-togethers, or looking at family photos. We can be sure she is in a Better Place with her grandparents and other family members. Sometimes, I still hear here calling me, as I did that day she was crossing the road in front of B&B Pharmacy in West Asheville in front of Aycock School. I had gone there to pick up my daughter, her cousin. I turned to see that she was smiling and waving at me, afraid that I wouldn't notice her. I thought how friendly she was. She seemed genuinely pleased to see me. We would see each other again, but that memory stands out in my mind.
She rests with the angels now. She is buried beside an infant cousin of mine- who was just a newborn baby. They surely are somewhere together, happy to be there, where they are Loved and always will be.
