Ruth E. Balichek, age 70, of Oxford Junction, Iowa died Sunday, March 10, 1991 at Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa, Iowa.
She was born February 26, 1926 in Fairview Township, Jones County Iowa the daughter of Edward and Esther Andeberg Engelbart and was educated at Amber, Iowa.Ruth married Louie Balichek on March 16, 1940 near Nashua, Iowa. The couple moved to a farm near Oxford Junction which they farmed their entire lives and where they still reside. One of Ruth's favorite pastimes was fishing.
She is survived by her husband Louie, one son Ronald of Oxford Junction, two daughters: Donna, Mrs. Wayne Hall of Anamosa, Iowa and Carol Balichek of Oxford Junction, six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, three sisters Mrs. Lucille Joslin of Amber, Ruby, Mrs. John Pashek of Tomahawk, Wisconsin and Jeanne, Mrs. Merlin Ahrendsen of Olin, Iowa, and one brother Everett Engelbart of Walker, Iowa. Preceding her in death were her parents, five sisters, and one brother.
Services were held March 14 at 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction. The Rev's Craig Bowyer and Michael Druhl officiated. Casketbearers were Lynn Balichek, Daniel Balichek, Curt Conrad, Harvey Hall, and Mark Brewer. Honorary casketbearers were John Pashek, Jr. and Edward Engelbart. Hayden Funeral Home of Oxford Junction was in charge of arrangements.
