She was born Sept. 9, 1901, on a farm near Waco to Henry and Dorathea (Wiese) Naber.
She married Walter Stahr on April 21, 1923, at St. John's Lutheran Church south of Waco. The couple farmed in the Waco and York areas until retirement. Walter died in 1985. Matilda was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York.
She is survived by one daughter, June (Robert) Knipfel of York; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, four brothers and five sisters.
Due to construction at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, funeral services will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in York Friday, Nov. 8, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in York. Memorials can be sent in care of the family. Metz Mortuary of York is in charge of arrangements.
