"The death of Robert Davidson Caney, a former Cooperstown automobile dealer, occurred suddenly Thursday following a heart attack at his home in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was 61 years of age. Mr. Caney was born in Cooperstown on May 3, 1897, a son of Irving and Almeda (Barnum) Caney. He attended Cooperstown High School. For a number of years, he owned and operated a garage and automobile agency in the building on Main Street now occupied by Charles A. Wick, Inc. He left Cooperstown in the early 1920's, and has been in the automobile business in St. Petersburg. Mr. Caney is survived by two sons, Commander Lawrence D. Caney, now stationed with the U. S. Navy in Paris France, and Robert L. D. Caney of Frankfort, N. Y.; a daughter, Mrs. Davis L. Fair, Jr., of Louisville, Miss.; and a sister, Mrs. Donald S. Root of New Hartford. Funeral services were held in St. Petersburg, and the body was cremated. The ashes are being brought to Cooperstown, and on their arrival a memorial service will be held at the Ingalls Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard P.
