Richard Harry Barker, 76, of Payette, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2002, at Seattle's VA Hospital.
He was born October 25, 1925, to Walter and Loretta May Kirnan Barker, in New Meadows, where he was raised, went to school and met his childhood sweetheart, Alice Mildred Gray. She became his bride on Feb. 2, 1945, in Wilder. He proudly served his country during World War II. After his discharge he returned to his family in the Treasure Valley where he worked until he purchased a ranch in Indian Valley in 1961. He loved ranching and although he retired to Payette in 1995, he continued his love of ranching on a smaller scale. He had a kind heart and a great love for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Alice, at home; two sons,a daughter; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a cherished sister, Edna Wilson of Boise; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tommy LeRoy; and two brothers, George and Perry.
A viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Payette, with funeral services at the chapel at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 17. Vault interment will be held at the Wilder Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Payette.
