Edward D. Tipton, age 72, of Maryville, passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville. He was retired from The Daily Times, after working there for 45 years; former pastor of East Walland Baptist Church and was owner of Dude's Grocery Store for 18 years. Preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Tipton; parents, Ruben and Edna Tipton; brothers, Samuel and Norman Tipton; and sister, Wanda Smith. Survivors include his daughters and sons in law, Yvonne and Phil Payne; Shannon Tipton and Steve Guilliams; daughter Robin Tipton and special friend, Patsy Bales; son and daughter in law, Donnie and Apryl Tipton; 9 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; brother and sister in law, Freddy and Patsy Tipton; special friend, Darlene Martin; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside service and interment will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 29, 2009 at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
