Widow of Jessie Reid Brown, whom she married on May 28, 1938. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John L. Alexander & Nannie Blackwelder Alexander; brother, Johnny Alexander, and sister, Mary Martin.
Survivors include children and their spouses, Cornelia & Edward Hancock, and Mary Lou & Don Phillips, all of NC; sister-in-law, Louise Alexander; grandchildren, Lisa Searcy and her husband Cliff, Gary Phillips, Donna Henderson and her husband Bill, Kristie Shriver and her husband Jeff, and Stacie Brown and her husband Robbie; eight great-grandchildren.
She worked at the C&H Grand Store (the Five & Ten Cents Store) on Main Street in Mooresville, where she was known as "Little Miss Janie." She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church and taught children's Sunday school for 40 years.
Interment followed funeral services conducted at the Southside Baptist Church, Mooresville, on Thursday, December 20, 2007.
