He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Elwood, the son of Carl L. and Carolyn R. (Hoose) Ballentine. He graduated from St. Mary's High School and lived in Anderson most of his life.
In 1980, he retired from Delco Remy, after 38 1/2 years of employment.
He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Madison County Radio Club and the Model Airplane Club.Jack was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mayme L. Ballentine of Anderson; three sons, James L. Ballentine of Muncie and Michael J. Ballentine and Richard E. (wife, Johnnie) Ballentine, all of Anderson; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; his sister, Patricia Shaffer of Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Paul L. Ballentine; daughter-in-law, Carol Ballentine; and his brother, Lewis Raymond Ballentine.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home, 515 E. 53rd St., Anderson, officiated by Father Robert Williams. Burial will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 266 Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
