B. Houston McCeney, 78, of 1320 Tract Road, Fairfield, died Tuesday, June 11, at the Lutheran Home, Gettysburg. Born Jan. 18, 1924, he was a son of the late B. Houston and Alice McCeney Sr. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Madelyn McCeney. He grew up in Washington, DC and completed his high school education at Woodrow Wilson High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a navy pilot aboard an aircraft carrier during World War II. He attended George Washington University where he completed his undergraduate and graduate work earning a law degree. He practiced law as executive director of the Maryland National Park and Planning Commission. He later served as general counsel for Manor Care Nursing Homes, Silver Springs, Md. He retired as executive director in 1980. He was an active member of Prince of Peace Episcopal Church and served on the Vestry; Social Action Committee; and Refugee Resettlement Committee. He also served the Adams County Office of Aging. He is also survived by three children; *Sharon M. Foote of Los Angeles, Cal., Susan M. Anderson of Rockville, Md., and Sandy M. Bastian of Silver Springs; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Anne Riley of Kensington, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, J. Hyatt McCeney, in 1963. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 15, at Prince of Peace Episcopal Church, Gettysburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Church of the Prince of Peace, 20 W. High St., P.O. Box 3005, Gettysburg, PA 17325. Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
