Edna Mae Hooker, 80, died Friday, April 21, 2000, at Pemiscot Memorial Health Systems in Hayti. She was born July 9, 1919, in Hornbeak, Tenn., the daughter of the late John Robert Dodd and Pearl Jackson Dodd.
She attended the McCarty Schools. On August 14, 1937, in Caruthersville, she was united in marriage to Mr. Henry Paul Hooker, who preceded her in death on April 6, 1968. She was also preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
She was employed by the Caruthersville School District for 27 years as a cook, prior to her retirement five years ago. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Bethany Sunday School Class.
Survivors include six daughters, Wanda Mae Proctor of Caruthersville; Barbara Faye Woods of Dixon, Mo., Brenda Lott-Herron of Knoxville, Tenn., Sheila Brown, Sandra Kaye Hooker and Cathay Mathis Fisher, all of Caruthersville; one sister, Luna Barner of Kenton, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a number of other relatives, and many friends.
Services were held Sunday, April 23, 2000, 3 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Caruthersville, with Dr. James Adams and Dave Lewelling officiating. Interment was in Maple Cemetery.
