Samuel G. Abercrombie, octogenarian, died suddenly of cerebral hemorrhage at the Soldiers' Home hospital, Burkett, shortly after noon Tuesday. Mr. Abercrombie was stricken a few hours previously while in his room. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where death occurred. He was aged 80 years, 10 months, and had been a member of the Home since 1921, being admitted from Aurora, Nebr. During the Civil war he served with Company I, 140th Indiana infantry. Surviving him are his widow, residing at Burkett, two sisters, Mrs. J. F. Reaves, of Louisberg, Kas., and Mrs. Higgins, residing in Oregon, and a nephew, John Higgins of Aurora. Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.

Mortuary - Funeral of S. Abercrombie

The funeral of Samuel G. Abercrombie, whose death occurred at the Soldiers' Home hospital about noon Tuesday, was held from the Home chapel at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Rev. A. C. Hull officiating. Burial was made in the Burkett cemetery.

Samuel Abercrombie, who served as a Private in Company B, 137th Indiana Infantry, died on 28 Oct 1924. Burial was in the Burkett Cemetery, Burkett, Nebraska. An application for a headstone was made by J. W. Waits, Commandant, on 11 Jan 1926. [U.S. Veteran Headstone Application]
