The daughter of Jonas and Angelina (O'Connell) Hix, Martha first married Thomas Beshears on December 26, 1875 in McDonald County, Missouri, and had one child, Nellie, with him. Thomas preceded Martha in death, and she remarried to Zachariah Hodson on September 6, 1884. She was the third wife of Zachariah Hodson, and had four children with him: Jonas, Enoch, Rhoda, and Ellis. She died in 1896 and was buried at Tracy Cemetery, where she shares one of the oldest marked graves with Zachariah.
