MULLENS - John Enoch Cook, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 28, 2004, at his residence following a short illness.

Born April 25, 1917, at Slab Fork, he was the son of the late Ury E. and Nancy Tolliver Cook.

Mr. Cook was a former employee with the Wyoming County Board of Education with 37 years of service as a bus driver. He was the recipient of the 37-Year Safe Driving Award by the American Automobile Association.

He was a member of Pierpoint Freewill Baptist Church. Enoch had a special love for children, and in his leisure he enjoyed flowers and birds.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Stacey, Basil and Roma Cook; two sisters, Erma Sutphin and Audra Starr; and a son-in-law, Robert Marshall.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 68 years, Edna S. Tickle Cook; two daughters, Terrill Marshall of Kensington, Md., and Janeth Ray Fish and her husband, Harold, of Waukon, Iowa; two sons, Robert L. Cook and his wife, Becky, of Buckhannon and Danny B. Cook and his wife, Vicki, of Del City, Okla.; a sister, Janice England and her husband, James, of Wingina, Va.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and special friends, Jimmy Graham and Robin Barker.

Service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel, Mullens, with the Rev. Butch Acord officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley.

Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jack Wallen, Jerry Wayne Thomas, Jimmy Graham, Gene Massie, Jesse Tolliver and John Carr.

Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Milam and Jack Cook.
