Aged 67 yrs 10 mos 12 days
Occupation: homemaker
Cause of death: heart disease
MO death cert. #13906
Mrs. Cora E. Boyer died at her home near Bendavis, March 7, 1937, age 67 years. She was born and lived many years in Appanoose County, Iowa. There she was married to S.H. Boyer in 1890. Six children were born to them, five of whom are living, one daughter dying in infancy. Ray L. of Girard, Kansas; Rolla B. of Minneapolis; Ralph M., of Centerville, Iowa; Mrs. Ethel Cleaver and Orel Boyer, of this place, are fine examples of a faithful, Christian mother's work and prayers. Mrs. Boyer had been sick most all winter, several weeks ago we thought she was gone, but she rallied, called her family to her, and asked them to pray that if her work was done she might be released from pain and be at rest, but if there was any good she might still do, she was willing to go on, if given strength.
Pain left her but she lay asleep for many hours, seemingly almost gone. Coming back she told of seeing a wonderful vision of the dark river to cross, but when the thought came I cannot stem the tide, the sight of her Savior on the other side with His hand held out, beckoning her on, gave her the needed strength, and she with countless others were soon at His side. On all sides were many white mansions, room for all, but after showing her all the glories, she was led back with the message, go tell the world it's all true, there are many mansions.
She had lived here since 1909, a quiet, simple life, serving and helping any way she could, and how all will miss her. Six of her grandchildren bore the little casket to the church at Huggins, where Payton Smyer held a short service, then laid her to rest in the Mew cemetery.
The sorrowing husband, children, and grandchildren have the sympathy of their many friends. They wish to return thanks for many favors and the flowers.
