RICHMOND — Vida May Tharp, 93, Richmond, died July 22, 2009, at Arbor Trace in Richmond.

She was born March 9, 1916, in Fleming County, Ky., to William N. Maddox and Lantie Lee Planck Maddox, and had resided in Richmond most of her life.

Vida was a well-known local photographer and in 1986 she was editor and the photographer for the Richmond High School Pierian.

She was a member of Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church, Richmond Photography Society, and an avid fisherman.

Survivors include three daughters, Cheryl S. Biggs and her husband Pete of Richmond, Karen L. Kolvalcin and her husband David of Mount Laural, N.J., and Sandra J. Trynor and her husband Robert of Granger; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dolly Leach and Ruby Kaska, both of Alexandria; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Noel and Lester Maddox.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Noffze Funeral Home, 501 N. Harrison St., Burial will be in the Park View Cemetery, Alexandria.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Noffze Funeral Home.

Arrangements are being handled by Doan and Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
