Ray was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a life member of the Kelso-Longview Elks.

Ray is survived by his sons, John (Val) Hart and Rod Hart, both of Kelso; his daughters, Deborah Wilson of Coos Bay, Ore., Joni (Al) Gullixson of Portland, Terry (Toby) Rose of Kelso and Lisa (Tobie) Stevens of Tieton, Wash.; two sisters, Evelina "Toots" Reardon and Marge (Harry) Fuhrman, both of Longview; his dear and special friend, Martha Harris of Yuba City, Calif.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother; and an infant son, Jeffrey.
