Noah Huett, an aged veteran of the cross, has gone to reap his reward, and to receive his crown of victory. Father Huett was born in Ohio, Nov. 30, 1815, and departed this life at his home in Jefferson Township, Lee Co., IA, May 1, 1885, age 69 years, 5 months and 1 day. The days of our years are three score and ten. he lived out nearly his appointed time. Bro. Huett was married 17 May 1835, and for almost fifty years he and his now widowed wife have battled together on earth; and he steppoed over the river to await her coming. Noah Heutt was the father of twelve children, eight of whom are still living, one son and seven daughters. May the mantle of the Father fall upon the children. Bro. Huett resided in Jefferson Township, Lee County, Iowas for thirty-seven years. He was loved and repected by all who knew him; and of his religious life there cannot be too much siad. For forty years he has been a professor of religion and always honored in his home, in his business and in the church. His life was a life of uprightness and devotion to God. In the death of Bro. Huett his companion has lost a kind husband, his children a loving father, the church a friend and the community an energetic citizen. He has gone and cannot return. "Dearest brother thou has left us here thy loss we deeply feel; but 'tis God that has bereft us-he can all our sorrows heal. Yet again we hope to meet thee. When the day of life is fled. Then Heaven with joy to greet thee, where no farewell tear is shed". The greater part of Father Huett's Christian life was spent in the United Brethern Church; but six or seven years ago he united with the M.P. Church of which he was a faithful member when he died. His sermon was preached by the writer to a large congregation of sympathizing friends. We laid him in the Wilson Cemetery, to await the second coming of Christ. Oh what a glorious thought? The Huetts moved from Clark Co, Indiana to Ireton, Henry Co., IA in 1841, from there they moved to Jefferson twp., Lee Co., Iowa in 1846, where they lived till May 1, 1885, when death claimed the husband and father, then son Lewis moved in with his mother Mary.
