Obituary of Gladys Marie Barton Atwell Garlotte
Mrs. Gladys Marie Barton Garlotte, went home to be with the Lord to His mansion of love Sunday, March 8, 2009.
Born September 20, 1921, on Keller Avenue in Biloxi where she was raised until the age of 16. Then her family moved out to Daisy Vestry Road in N. Biloxi where some of the family still lives. She was a member of Big Ridge Baptist Church in D'Iberville for 56 years, where she was a nursery caregiver for 35 years and was also a custodian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Euthel, of more than 50 years; her parents, Bill and Ethel Barton; three brothers, Melvin, Robert and Stanley; and one sister, Gertie Gore of Verdi, Nevada.
She is survived by one brother, (Living), of N. Biloxi; two daughters, (Living)and husband (Living) LaBossiere of Tennessee, and (Living)and Husband (Living) Deloney of Woolmarket; two sons, (Living) and (Living), both of Vancleave; a very special granddaughter, (Living)Johnson of South Carolina; two other granddaughters and two grandsons.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the ladies of Hospice of Light and Jamie of Gulf Coast Hospice for the special care and attention they provided.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at Big Ridge Baptist Church where friends may visit one hour before service time. Interment will follow in D'Iberville Memorial Park. Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi is in charge of arrangement.
