GIRARD; May 24th. Last Wednesday, Miss Lillie Odom died at the home of her father, Mr. Sylver Odom, on the 16th year of her age. her reamins were interred at Bethany on Thursday. Rev. T. I. Nease performed the burial rites. Lillie was a girl of bright mind and happy disposition which endeared her to her schoolmates and teachers. her schollmates delighted to carry bouquets of flowers in her hour of affliction, and on the day of burial they arrived at the church sometime before the arrival of the corpse and festooned a beautiful wreath and placed it upon the casket - the last offering of friendship and love they could bestow. And now she sleeps in the lasting embrace of the memory of these devoted schoolmates and friends. On her approached to the cold stream of death, she left testimony sweet and assuring of her acceptance in that better land beyond the river. She left earth with wings ready plumed for heaven's eternal portals of light and joy. She sang beautiful songs before she left, that will sing themselves in delightful echos in the memories of all who heard them. Our pastor had the congregation sing the song she loved so well to sing and did sing in her last days. She now sings with a golden harp, and wears a crown of the richest hue in a fairer world than this.
